A WIDOW has jumped from 15,000 feet to mark one year since the tragic death of her husband.

Angela Sharp, 46, of Flookburgh, took to the sky in aid of the North West Air Ambulance who attended her 48-year-old husband Garry after a crash involving his motorbike and another car on the A684.

"He was passionate about the North West Air Ambulance and he donated to them every month," said Mrs Sharp. "They did come out to him and we wanted to do something for his charity.

"It's so nice to give something back and though it was too late for Garry I'm happy they came out for him."

The mother-of-three has so far raised more than £1,000 from the parachute jump fundraiser and money donated at Mr Sharp's funeral instead of flowers which will go towards the charity which was celebrating its 15th anniversary.

Mrs Sharp was joined by her 26-year-old son Luke Foster for the skydive at Black Knights Parachute Centre, south of Lancaster, while her and Garry's 11-year-old son Lewi watched with 'pride'.

"Lewi was watching but couldn't do it because you have to be 16 but it was awesome and everybody thought I was mad," she added. "It was quite dramatic and we were looking into a full circle rainbow - it was magical.

"Garry would have been so amazed that we did it."

Mrs Sharp and her son Lewi were in court earlier this year to see the sentencing of pensioner John Elvin who pleaded guilty to causing the father-of-three's death on October 24 2013 by careless driving at Garsdale Head, near Sedbergh.

The then 10-year-old Lewi was granted special permission to enter South Lakeland Magistrates' Court as he "wanted to see the man who killed his dad".

Elvin, of Godwin Close, Bourne, Lincolnshire, was given a community order of 200 hours and a two-year driving ban.

"If we can turn our hurt and anger from the court case into something positive this has to be it," Mrs Sharp added. "There have been a few tragic motor accidents in our family and we remember them also by supporting this worthy cause."
