THE second Lakes International Comic Art Festival got under way with a bang this morning.
Thousands of comic book fans are expected to descend on Kendal with events being held all across the town over the weekend.
In Kendal Library, Kev F Sutherland, of Beano and Doctor Who Adventures fame, delivered a comic masterclass to youngsters.
Returning after the inaugural event last October, Kev said the festival was one of a kind.
"The whole weekend there are events going on which is just amazing," he said. "Nowhere in Britain comes anywhere near to this. I've been to comic festivals in Europe which mainly focus on American and superhero shows but here there are activities and things to do for all age groups.
"Last year proved to be a success because not only have they had me back but many more great names."
At the Birdcage was Kendal College Art and Design lecturer Barry Willis. The 47-year-old, sporting a Bane mask, created a spectacular scene of Batman and Catwoman with Gotham City in the background.
"As an Art and Design lectuter to have this sort of activity in Kendal is absolutely stunning," he said.
