A HOUSING trust has been finding out more about self-build affordable housing.
The 25th anniversary annual meeting of Cumbria Rural Housing Trust featured a ‘lively debate’ on the topic of self-building.
The trust aims to help people in rural Cumbria and further afield to have decent affordable housing in the villages and rural areas where they live and work.
At the meeting, members and guests heard presentations from Esh Developments, of Durham, and from Shropshire County Council, which has a policy enabling single plots to be developed to provide affordable homes for people who cannot afford open market prices, but who can do some of the building work themselves.
