KENDAL'S Castle Dairy Restaurant has become the first apprentice-run eatery in the country to be recommended in the prestigious Michelin Guide.
The 14th century Grade 1 listed restaurant on Wildman Street was praised in the 2015 guide for its "skilled, modern and flavoursome" cooking in "delightful" historic surroundings.
Robert Marshall-Slater, Head of Culinary Arts at Kendal College which runs the restaurant, said: “For the Castle Dairy to be on the Michelin radar, let alone receive such a wonderful recommendation is a huge achievement and testament to the hard work and professional skill of our head chef Robert Stacey and his talented team of apprentices."
