WESTMORLAND Gazette readers are being asked to say it with flowers by nominating their unsung local heroes to receive a beautiful bouquet.

The newspaper has teamed up with Tesco in Carnforth to help give a special person a special treat each month.

We are inviting readers to contact us to nominate their local heroes to receive a bunch of flowers supplied by the Tesco store, in Lancaster Road.

All you need to do is send a letter or email to news editor Mike Addison, explaining in no more than 250 words why you think the nominee should receive the bouquet. A recipient will be chosen and a bouquet will be presented to one person each month.

It might be someone who does charity work, helps local sports teams, or even just goes that extra mile to help their friends. We want people to get in touch and help us recognise the good work they do.

Store manager Max Umar said: "We want to give people the power to acknowledge what these people do. I think a lot of good things people do go unnoticed and we want to help celebrate the great things that go on in our communities."

The closing date to send nominations for the first bouquet is November 6.

Letters should be addressed to Mike Addison, The Westmorland Gazette, 1 Wainwright's Yard, Kendal, LA9 4DP.

Emails should be sent to mike.addison@kendal.newsquest.co.uk
