CUMBRIANS are being warned about hoax callers pretending to be Cumbria County Council.
Cumbria Trading Standards has received reports from a number of consumers who have been contacted by telephone from a person claiming to be carrying out a survey on the authority's behalf. Trading Standards said they could confirm that CCC is not currently carrying out any telephone survey of Cumbrian residents.
They are advising people to cut the caller off and refuse to engage with them, and not to provide any personal information to this caller.
If you wish to report any such calls, or you require advice, please contact Trading Standards via the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 03454 04 05 06 or visit www.adviceguide.org.uk or you can contact the Police on 101.
