A CARNFORTH supermarket worker is planning to take up to three months off work to help fight poverty in Bolivia.

Stewart Fredericks, who is a personal shopper at the town's Tesco store, plans to travel to the South American country in January as part of the International Citizen Service (ICS).

He will work alongside local volunteers on projects which tackle the root causes of poverty and enable long term community development.

But Stewart, 23, says he needs to raise £800 for International Service, the charity running the ICS scheme in Bolivia, before he can make the trip.

"This will allow them to continue to bring about positive change in the developing communities where they work," said Stewart. "I’ll be working alongside volunteers from Bolivia, on a project that aims to tackle the root causes of inequality in order to build societies where everyone's rights are respected and fulfilled.

"I am looking for help to raise this money from people and organisations in my local area. Sponsorship or assistance would be greatly appreciated."
