AN ECLECTIC artist inspired by steampunk and a passion for motors is halfway through the first of two exhibitions in the local area.

Dave Livingstone, illustrator and artist, creates intricate and imaginative 'vehicular cartoons', using ink and vibrant watercolour washes - and in his early career his love of motorbikes resulted in freelance work for several bike magazines as well as design work for a publishing house.

But after a break of several years has returned to creating the types of pieces now on display at Country Harvest, Ingleton, and soon to be moved to Grange-over-Sands.

Dave explained he has lived and worked in South Cumbria for almost 30 years and has always had a passion for 'all types of vehicles – the stranger the better'.

He has several more exhibitions planned for the near future and his work continues to develop at a remarkable pace.

He said 'machines and their humorous qualities' remain his artistic passion.

His exhibition at Country Harvest will run until October 31.
