AN appeal against a South Lakeland District Council decision to refuse permission for a 54-metre high, 225kW wind turbine on land at Old Croft, New Hutton, near Kendal, has been dismissed by a Government appointed planning inspector. He concluded that the benefits arising from the proposal would not outweigh the 'substantial harm' that would be caused to the character and appearance of the landscape.
