I don’t know how often you look at stained glass windows in an old church but I think you will find that the picture in the window usually tells a story.

Think back to the days when most people didn’t have the chance to learn to read or write: with a stained glass window they could picture some of the bible stories or bible characters, especially when the light shone through.

That’s interesting information, but do you sometimes wonder what Jesus meant when He said that He was the ‘light of the world’? We don’t need me to be reminded that sometimes the world seems a dark and dangerous place. We all at some time in our lives go through dark times emotionally, physically perhaps, worries within the family, financial problems, and so on and when help comes in some form or another it’s like a ray of hope in the darkness, isn’t it?

Well, that’s what Christians believe Jesus says to us, that he brings help and healing and revelation into a dark and at times ‘lost’ world - and a willingness to walk the road with us- whatever.

Of course, light also shows up the things which perhaps we would prefer to remain hidden, but He only shows them up in order to make us aware of the dangers and to give us an opportunity to move back into the light.

It’s all about love, isn’t it? God’s love for all that He has made. Now, isn’t that good news!
