MOUNTAIN rescuers battled 80mph winds to rescue two walkers who got lost after climbing Helvellyn.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called by Cumbria Police to go to the aid of the two men at around 5pm on Saturday.
The team located the lost walkers by sending them a text and then ascended to High Crag via Dollywaggon Pike to help them off the mountain.
The men were described as “very cold and wet but otherwise unhurt.”
The Team Leader said: 'Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team would to remind people to check the weather forecast before venturing onto the high fells and remember to take a torch, particualrly now the days are shorter.
“If it's windy in the valley, it's really going to be much windier up high.”
