CHILDREN at two South Lakeland schools enjoyed soup celebrations after harvesting their very own vegetables.
Pupils at Stramongate Primary School, Kendal, and St Mark's C of E Primary School, Natland, were taking part in a Seed to Soup project which saw them plant, grow, harvest and finally cook their produce to enjoy with friends and family.
Project leader Jan Quinn's charity Chestnut Events brought in a chef to help cook autumn vegetable and leek and potato soups with the children for them and their guests.
"The home grown sweetcorn was a real success this year and the children enjoyed stripping the cobs and eating the juicy corn!" said Ms Quinn.
