ST Michael's Parish Church at Kirkby Thore is to get a £25,000 grant towards urgent fabric repair work from a fund of almost £1 million that helps to save important heritage sites.
The grant – awarded by not-for-profit business WREN – is part of a national Heritage Fund that pays for the repair, maintenance or restoration of a building or structure of historic or architectural importance.
The near 900-year-old church was last year placed on English Heritage's 'at risk' register. Since then worshippers have embarked on a major project to raise funds for the repair and restoration of the building.
