BRITISH Transport Police have released images of a man they want to speak to after a schoolboy was hit around the head on a train to Kendal.

The 11-year-old victim was assaulted after boarding the train at Windermere with his friends on their way to school.

Investigating officer PC Gez Cooper said: “A man boarded the train at Staveley and the victim said ‘hello’ to him.

“When he was ignored he then said ‘bye then’ at which point the man slapped him around the back of the head as he passed by.

“This incident left a young boy on his way to school very shocked. We believe the man in the images could have vital information about the incident and we ask anyone who recognises him to come forward.”

The incident took place at around 8am on September 30.
