HUNDREDS of people turned out to see The Gill in Ulverston engulfed in flames for Halloween on Friday.
Shadows danced along Gill Banks as volunteers lit the night with 550 candles, flaming torches, shadow screens and huge drawings made of paraffin-soaked rope.
"It was so busy the path got a bit congested," said Dawn Wright, chairman of Ulverston's Candlelit Walk committee. "That's never happened to us before!
This year people were invited to bring their carved pumpkins to display and local artists created shadow screens for the event including Ellie Chaney, Kate Brunskill, Nat Tyson, Tracey Escolme and children from Cartmel Priory School.
Thunderhead Arts from Ulverston also took part welding a giant owl, flower, star and candle to create flaming drawings that lit-up the night alongside a fire garden of oil drums cut with stars.
Ulverston Town Council and South Lakeland District Council both supported this year's event with small grants and donations of £520.
