ONE of Cumbria's best-loved organisations has been handed the keys to a brand new car to help members with their centenary celebrations.
The Cumbria-Westmorland Federation of Women's Institutes will be speeding through the next year in a swanky Honda Civic, donated by Kendal's Honda garage, which chose the WI as one of its chosen charities for the coming 12 months.
The white courtesy car has been donated to help members celebrate the centenary of the WI, with members planning to attend several national, county and local events in it.
"As far as we know we are the only county to be able to publicise the WI this way over the centenary year," explained a spokeswoman for the organisation in Cumbria.
