Jordan Connerton stole the show for Kendal in a resounding 3-0 win against nine man Warrington.

The Mintcakes ace netted twice and was unlucky not to grab his hat trick in a game Kendal dominated.

It was a real hero to zero moment for Warrington's Craig Robinson who scored their goal in the shock FA Cup victory over League Two Exeter City only to be dismissed for foul and abusive language before half time.

Warrington began the brighter of the two teams, winning the early physical battles and asserting their physicality.

But Kendal were well organised and the centre back pairing of Lyndon Hodgkiss and Rory Winters stood up to the task.

The game sparked into life after 32 minutes when a well worked move saw the ball fall kindly for Jordan Connerton just inside the Warrington box.

He had time to set himself and he curled it into the goalkeeper's left to make it 1-0 to the Mintcakes.

The game nearly descended into farce as the referee failed to keep a grasp of the game following a string of bad tackles and off the ball incidents.

It came to a head when Craig Robinson used foul language towards a linesman and was promptly dismissed, much to the infuriation of the already-suspended Warrington manager, Shaun Reid.

Robinson will now miss Warrington's FA Cup game against Gateshead despite his goal ensuring his team reached the next stage of the competition.

Kendal capitalised on Warrington's loss of concentration and Jeff King showed great commitment to pinch the ball of a Warrington defender.

He surged once more into the box and drew two defenders towards him before slipping it back to Jordan Connerton who made no mistake from eight yards out - smashing it into the roof of the net.

Kendal were made to weather an early storm at the start of the second half.

But as time went on Kendal grew into the game.

Danny Forbes was finding more space on the right hand side and the Warrington back four were increasignly exposed.

The game was effectively ended as a contest when referee Steve Rudd saw fit to dismiss Warrington's Ben Wharton with 76 minutes on the clock after what looked like an equal coming together.

Craig Carney rubbed salt into Warrington's wounds when he found himself in acres of space on the edge of the penalty area before slotting it home with just 12 minutes left on the clock.

Kendal cleverly kept possession until the final whistle and romped home 3-0 winners against their much fancied opposition.
