THE Lake District’s historic Sharrow Bay Hotel has revived a tradition dating back more than 160 years by hosting a lawn meet of the Ullswater Foxhounds.
The hotel reached back in time to when the imposing property on the banks of Ullswater was a private fisherman’s lodge.
Sharrow Bay’s general manager Oliver Smith said the well-known fell pack last met at the lakeside in 1878. “While we don’t know why the pack stopped meeting here, now we have revived the tradition we hope to make it an annual event," he said.
