A KENDAL Air Cadet has received an award after helping two of her schoolmates with her first aid skills.
Cadet Corporal Elizabeth Newton came to the aid of a fellow pupil at Queen Elizabeth School, Kirkby Lonsdale, when a conical glass flask he was holding broke, leaving glass embedded in his hand.
A spokesperson for the cadets said her “immediate actions and calm approach in providing first aid assistance resulted in the casualty being treated quickly and effectively.”
The 16-year-old then helped another classmate who was feeling unwell after witnessing the incident.
Corporal Newton was presented with the Commandant Air Cadets Special Commendation at a recent ceremony at 1127 (Kendal) Squadron’s Headquarters.
The commendation was presented by the Officer Commanding Cumbria and Lancashire Wing, Wing Commander Steve Molloy.
