THE organiser of a spectacular annual Christmas display in Kendal has praised his neighbours for making this “our best year yet.”
Every year, Colin Ellis and his neighbours create a sparkling winter wonderland on Wray Crescent, which attracts crowds of people from far and wide.
The residents are asked to make a small donation, with a total of around £800 usually going to a selection of local charities.
This year, Colin said he planned to split the money raised between Sandgate School, which is training some children to go kayaking next year, the Salvation Army and a charity helping sufferers of Parkinson’s Disease.

"I'd rather make three small, local charities happy than give it to one of the larger ones," he explained.
Colin started the tradition around 15 years ago after losing three members of his family to cancer.
He described this year’s display, which has already raised £100, as “the best it’s ever been." "The displays are absolutely brilliant,” he said.
