AN UNEXPECTED mix of festive pop hits and traditional carols will be sung by a village choir at its Christmas concert this Saturday evening (December 20).
The Burton Singers will perform everything from Away in a Manger to Last Christmas by Wham! at Burton-in-Kendal Memorial Hall.
The choir began two years ago with some random sheets of music and an antique piano, and it now has 25 members who rehearse weekly at the village school.
Tickets for Saturday's concert are available from Burton Village Store, priced £8 including wine and nibbles, or £3 for children. Reserve and pay on the night by calling Val Still on 07799-246415. Proceeds to the North West Air Ambulance and South Lakeland Age UK. Doors open at 7.30pm.
