CUMBRIA County Council’s Cabinet member responsible for waste is urging people stocking up for Christmas to avoid over-buying on food and drink that they could end up wasting.
Cllr John McCreesh said: “Christmas is traditionally a time to eat, drink and be merry, and people tend to buy more than they actually need.

"Christmas is an expensive time, so it’s worth taking a few simple steps to avoid waste and save money. Reducing the amount of waste will also reduce refuse collection and treatment costs.”
