SCOUTS in Eden will be paddling all year round thanks to a community grant.
Appleby Scouts were awarded the Eden District Council Community Fund to buy kayaks for use indoors after popular sessions on the water at Bassenthwaite this year.
The team has enjoyed six months taking part in water-based activities, with three scouts achieving the first of the Paddlepower certificates by mastering the basics of safety and skills and accumulating between them almost 100 trips on the water.
Leader Darren Bean applied for the kayaks and, with the support of Appleby Leisure Centre, sessions will be made available to the public - in the warmth of a heated swimming pool.
