CLASSIC car owners from across the UK descended on the Lakeland Motor Museum for a 'groundbreaking' display of around 65 vehicles.

Enthusiasts from as far away as Darlington and Stockport made the trip to the Backbarrow-based attraction for a day of reminiscing about cars from bygone eras.

Museum director Edwin Maher said the inaugural event was a huge success and claimed the nostalgia of such cars was the big draw.

"There is a lot of nostalgia about how motoring used to be and the iconic designs of cars from across the decades," he said.

"People like remembering the cars they used to have when they were younger and now they have grown up they can afford to own the cars and reminisce with others about them."
