KENDAL charity Bendrigg Trust has been awarded a grant from First TransPennine Express (FTPE) and the Forestry Commission for its woodland development plans.
The outdoor education centre for people with a disability will be using the money to regenerate an area of woodland, known as 'Oakwood', by planting oak trees and restoring it back to its natural state prior to the 1960s.
Now in its eighth year, the funding scheme gives biodiversity projects in and around Cumbria the opportunity to win a grant up to £3,000.
Bendrigg Trust principal Trevor Clarke said: "We are delighted to have been awarded this grant and can't wait to start."
Peter Roberts, Environmental and Safety Information Manager at FTPE, said: "Local communities, our passengers and our employees have benefitted from the many environmental improvement projects as a result of the Green Grants scheme.
