AN Ambleside musician is planning to do a fell run every day this year to raise awareness and funds for Parkinson’s UK.

Jim Tyson, bassist in popular local band The Seals, said he is taking on the gruelling challenge in memory of his dad, also called Jim, who lost his battle with Parkinson’s Disease in October.

“He had Parkinson’s for about 15 years and towards the end of his life he had a very low quality of life," said Jim.

“He was very disabled and couldn’t really get around. I want to raise money and awareness for people in the same situation.”

Father-of-two Jim, 41, who runs with Ambleside Athletic Club, said he thought running for 365 consecutive days throughout 2015 would be a fitting tribute to his dad who got him into running as a child.

Jim's rules are that each run must be five kilometres in distance or at least 30 minutes duration.

He has an initial fundraising target of £1,000 – to donate go to https://www.justgiving.com/run365parkinsonsUK.
