We have the feeling that a 'Heineken' moment is coming over the Lake District for 2015. Competition is in the air as to which of our finest hotels has the best in world class suites.

Thank fully, that is a personal decision for all and there are reasons why some guests favour particular hotels over others. Whether it is for their décor, the service, the food, the view. There are so many connotations; maybe people react to memories of the past or just like the run in the car to their favourite spot. As designers, we recognise we cannot be all too all men, well who can? All we can do is do our best to provide the best of what our experience has provided us and ensure we add an edge to each project we complete.

To us our area of expertise and is in the interior fit out of spaces, our personal signature will always be one of understated, elegance and style, comfort and warmth. Which should appeal to most across the board. Nothing too quirky or out of the zone as we do preach longevity as one of our qualities.

That’s not to suggest we are uninspiring. There is no doubt we treat each property with the individual consideration it deserves. Our hospitality clients are all uniquely special to us and we are blessed that we are allowed to enhance and develop their particular characteristics through the visual appearance of their interiors and each to the same end; there must be 'wow' and there must be attention to detail.

When you “probably” have the most fantastic view in the Lake District, we are not looking for the interior design to take away from that view, but compliment it in equal strengths. The quality expected by guests has to be withheld, without question. At the Holbeck Ghyll overlooking Windermere, their most recent suites have full floor to ceiling windows over the most stunning views. They are intoxicating, so our approach was not to distract, but to add balance in a contemporary way by accentuating bold contrast colours of burnt orange, French naval blue and citrus greens. However, the quantity of colour and pattern is controlled. Through this it balances out the scheme read with the view. The carpet, bed valances and wall coverings in the rooms are subtle in tone, colour, and design, purposely, without immediate impact to allow the overall scheme married to the view to make its mark.

The entrance hall to the new suites has no view. So we have given it its own presence and impact by introducing a huge contemporary and fresh vinyl wall covering from Elitis. On entering, it says it all and gives a suggestion of what to expect when you venture into the rooms.
