CHILDREN at one South Lakeland school will be seen and not hurt thanks to new high-visibility clothing.
Pupils at Coniston Primary School were given the potentially life-saving items by PCSO Emma Forrester at a special assembly on Friday (Jan 16).
Funding for the day-glo vests and armbands was provided by organisers of the Consiton 14, an annual road race that raises money for various causes.
Speaking to the Gazette, PCSO Forrester said: "Coniston 14 approached me and said they had some funding to donate to a policing project and we are heavily into road safety projects over the winter period.
"The high-vis items will most certainly improve child safety. Children of all ages are happy to wear them and, with a bit of luck, they will be permanently on their arms."
