THE county's broadband rollout period has been extended after a Cumbrian MP pressed parliament.
Penrith and The Border MP Rory Stewart took his and Cumbria County Council's campaign for superfast broadband to the floor of Parliament where the Secretary of State for Culture, Sajid Javid, confirmed an extension would be granted.
Mr Stewart said: "Cumbria's broadband rollout can now continue throughout the year - rather than having to be wrapped up in the Spring in order to satisfy inflexible delivery and accounting deadlines - which is absolutely fantastic news.
