CHILDREN’S charity Unique Kidz and Co is celebrating its after school and holiday club services for disabled children being rated as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted for the second time.

The Lancaster charity, which cares for children in the South Lakes and North Lancashire, was praised for its ‘devoted and committed staff’ and ‘inspirational’ managers and leaders.

Comments by the Ofsted inspector in the report included: “Children are extremely happy and settled in an environment where they are nurtured and cared for by devoted and committed staff.”

It also said staff showed outstanding knowledge of each child’s uniqueness and their wider family and extensive knowledge of each child’s complex needs.

Unique Kidz and Co after school care was last inspected in 2010 when it was also rated as outstanding.

Jane Halpin, Co-Founder of Unique Kidz and Co who has a disabled daughter, said: “We are delighted that our services have been rated outstanding for the second time and we are so proud of the staff for the wonderful work they do with the children.

“It’s fantastic that their commitment and knowledge has been recognised by Ofsted.”

Acting Manager at the Club, Leanne Smith said: “The children are a pleasure to work with, which is why as a staff team we work so hard and are passionate about meeting their individual needs."
