SOUP was handed out on the streets of Kendal to raise awareness of homelessness in the South Lakes.

Local charity Manna House was out in force with its pop-up kitchen on Friday (January 23) to mark Poverty and Homelessness Action Week which ran from January 19 to Saturday (January 25).

“Homelessness is not just an issue for the big cities," said Penny Severn, co-ordinator of Manna House partner Winter Shelter which provides warms and safe accommodation for those who would otherwise sleep rough in the winter months. "We have the same issues in our rural areas, too."
