THE newly-opened Subway outlet in Kendal's Stramongate has been granted a 24-hour food and beverage licence by South Lakeland District Council.

Franchisee Ross Fairbairn said the eatery will, from this weekend, be open from 9am on Saturday to 5am on Sunday.

"We will be offering our customers a healthier and tastier alternative to the typical kebab and chips which are usually served during the early hours," said Mr Fairburn.

"We will be serving our full menu all night long and will also be allowing our customers to sit in and enjoy their food without having to eat outside in the cold.

"We are also employing door security to ensure the safety of all customers and staff. We also plan to introduce all night opening on a Friday once we know the Saturday nights are working out."
