MILNTHORPE parish councillors heard that a red-painted zone on the road between the NatWest bank and the village's old Spar shop gave pedestrians "a false sense of security".
The council confirmed it was not an official pedestrian crossing, and its purpose was "simply to warn motorists of the likelihood of pedestrians crossing the road at that point".
