A CHEEKY fly-tipper conveniently left this porcelain problem for the authorities to clear away next to a rubbish bin on the footpath that runs alongside the River Kent at Gooseholme in Kendal.
South Lakeland District Council is now trying to lift the lid to discover who is responsible. An SLDC spokesman said: “Last year we collected 4,779 tonnes of street cleansing, including emptying 494 litter bins per day, and we pick up all manner of items that people throw away - including the odd toilet.
"Fly-tipping does have a negative impact on the environment and in this case the person would not have needed to spend a penny to pop round to the nearby household waste centre at Canal Head to get rid of the toilet, rather than leaving it next to a bin designed for smaller items of litter.’’
