YOUNG farmer Tom Redmayne echoed the success of his much more famous Oscar-winning namesake Eddie Redmayne when he trod the boards in Crook YFC's production of Sleeping Beauty.

Tom, who gave a 'lively and comedic' performance of Nurse Nora, helped Crook to second place in the Southern District Young Farmers' Club panto competition.

First place went to Eden Valley YFC while Kent Estuary YFC. Third place went to Kent Estuary YFC.

Emma Dickinson, of Eden Valley YFC won best actress award for her 'confident and likeable' portrayal of Nellie Blether.

More than 250 Young Farmers took in the YFC pantomime district eliminators held at; Ullswater Community College, Penrith, The Buccleugh Centre, Langholm, Egremont Market Hall, and Windermere School.

The county finals were held last weekend at Keswick's Theatre by the Lake, during which the judges awarded first prize to Brampton YFC, 2nd place went to Eden Valley YFC and 3rd place to Drigg YFC.
