HAWES Community Primary School is one of three in North Yorkshire to join a pilot programme led by youth music development charity, NYMAZ.
The school is now taking part in the Connect: Resound project which is testing how digital technologies, from video-streaming to social media tools, can be used to offer long-distance music teaching and learning.
Experienced instrumental teachers from the North Yorkshire County Music Service, who are familiar with delivering face-to -face lessons, are now adapting their skills to teach pupils over the internet.
NYMAZ director Heidi Johnson said: "Living in such a rural county we are aware of how transport times and costs can limit the music opportunities available. We believe that digital technologies may have the answer and hope to find a cost-efficient and high quality solution that can benefit children in North Yorkshire and across the rest of the country."
