Some 80 local and national guests were treated to an outstanding performance of songs from the musical "Grease" at the Low Wood Hotel on Saturday, February 28.

The singers were from the youth section of the Kinder Children's Choirs of the High Peak, a choir with a national reputation, conducted by Joyce Ellis MBE.

The 20-strong choir not only sang beautifully but moved beautifully too, and the combined effect was so exuberant and emotive it brought tears to many people's eyes. including my own.

Their combined male and female voices produced a wonderfully harmonious and melodic tone which much more senior choirs would have been pleased with.

Certainly the 80 guests, who paid £25 to hear the choir, as well as enjoy a meal, were very pleased with theevening, andmore than £1,000 was contributed towards the Air Ambulance Service, the charity chosen to benefit from it.

People were assured that the money would help fund the cost of a helicopter flying from Newcastle to take those involved in mountain accidents to hospital there.

Low Wood General Manager Nevil Jeffrey was also "very pleased" with the evening, adding that this was the third time the choir had performed there.
