Flags to be raised to mark Commonwealth Day
THE Commonwealth Flag will be raised at Kendal Town Hall at exactly 10am on Monday (March 9) to mark Commonwealth Day.
It will coincide with more than 730 others being unfurled across the UK and in 53 Commonwealth countries across the globe.
MORE TOP STORIES: To mark the ceremony in Kendal, Cllr Evelyn Westwood, chairman of South Lakeland District Council, will read out a message of good wishes from Her Majesty The Queen and a specially written Commonwealth Affirmation.
Flags will also be raised by Cumbria County Council, Eden District Council and Barrow Borough Council.
