WESTMORLAND and Lonsdale's five prospective Parliamentary candidates will take part in a debate at the University of Cumbria's Ambleside campus next week.
Ann Myatt (Conservative), John Bateson (Labour), Tim Farron (Liberal Democrat), John Stanley (UKIP) and Chris Loynes (Green) will take to the stage in the Langdale Building next Thursday (March 12).
Adam Lewis, Communications Co-ordinator for the University of Cumbria Students Union, said: "We are delighted to welcome the guest speakers from the top five parties to our debate events.
"Our members are passionate about the impact the next Government will have on their education, student life and future careers, and these debates present a fantastic opportunity for students to learn more about the policies and ideas that matter to them, as well as asking questions to the speakers directly.
"It provides a platform for the Parliamentary candidates to engage with students and staff from the University of Cumbria – a vote which could swing the election!
"As such we feel these debate events are incredibly important and are the only events of their kind in Cumbria.”
