DO YOU have a burning issue affecting the South Lakes area that you would like to put to the General Election candidates?

If so, now is your opportunity to submit a question that could be selected to be asked at a Question Time-style pre-election debate to be held at Kendal next month.

It could concern some of the main issues affecting this area, such as affordable housing, local health services, the state of the farming sector, tourism or environmental and green issues.

Local people will have the opportunity to quiz all five prospective candidates who have so far stated that they plan to stand at the general election in The Westmorland and Lonsdale constituency.

On the stage will be current MP Tim Farron (Liberal Democrat); Dr Ann Myatt (Conservative); John Bateson (Labour); Jonathan Stanley (UKIP) and Chris Loynes (Green Party).

The debate will be held at the university hub at Kendal College's new engineering facility, at Milnthorpe Road, on April 16.

The event is timed for 6.30pm with the debate due to begin at 7.15pm. Entry is free but will be by ticket only, with seating for 250 people.

If you want to attend, please email vicky.goodall@kendal.newsquest.co.uk as soon as possible. Each person can apply for up to two tickets.

If you plan to attend the event and have a question that you would like to be considered, please email andrew.thomas@kendal.newsquest.uk .
