British Transport Police has released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to following an 'unprovoked attack' on a train at Arnside.

A man allegedly threw red wine over a passenger and his laptop, causing criminal damage.

Officers believe the man in the image could have vital information about the incident which occurred at around 11.45pm on Monday, February 2.

Investigating officer PC Brett Greenwood said: “A man, who was accompanied by a group of three other people, sat opposite the victim drinking red wine. Once the train arrived at Arnside, two females from the group alighted the train. As the two men made their way to the doors one of them threw a cup of red wine over the victim and his laptop.

“This was a completely unprovoked attack and will not be tolerated. Everyone has the right to travel in safety and without fear of abuse or behaviour like this."

BTP is urging the man in the CCTV or anyone who recognises him to come forward to help with their enquiries."
