The Lake District - Dymond Guide by Christian Dymond, £14.99

YOU could fill an entire library with guides to the Lake District and be forgiven for assuming there is no need for any more.

But if they have to exist, then this bright and lavishly illustrated example by Cumbria-based Christian Dymond is worthy of a little shelf space.

Officially launched earlier this month at The Lakes Distillery, Bassenthwaite, the guide extends to 368 pages and has more than 300 colour photographs depicting the county's landscape and architectural heritage.

The book is divided into 11 sections and each has an extract from the relevant Ordnance Survey map to help you navigate the area in focus.

Mr Dymond has been a freelance writer for over 20 years. After studying history at University College, London he later became a journalist, spending three years at the Press Association before moving to Border Television, from which presented two series of Hindsight for ITV.

He has written three city guides for Louis Vuitton and two previous Dymond Guides to Cumbria - a cultural guide and a food and drink guide. He has also written for The Times, The Sunday Times, The Daily Telegraph and The Financial Times.
