It is just two weeks now until The Westmorland Gazette's QuestionTime-style pre-election debate.

This will be the opportunity for people to hear the views of the five candidates who have so far indicated that they plan to stand in the Westmorland and Lonsdale constituency.

On stage will be Dr Ann Myatt (Conservative), Alan Piper (Ukip), Tim Farron (Liberal Democrat), Chris Loynes (Green Party) and John Bateson (Labour).

The debate will be held at the Hub at Kendal College's new engineering facility, at Milnthorpe Road, on Thursday, April 16.

The event is timed for 6.30pm with the debate due to begin at 7.15pm. Entry is free but will be by ticket only, with seating for 250 people.

There has been a lot of interest in attending but there are still some tickets remaining. If you want to attend, please email vicky.goodall@kendal.newsquest.co.uk as soon as possible. Each person can apply for up to two tickets.

The Gazette is also inviting people to submit questions that might be asked at the debate. If you plan to attend and have a question that you would like to be considered, please email andrew.thomas@kendal.newsquest.co.uk

Your question should relate to issues affecting the local area - for example, the future of Westmorland General Hospital, the lack of affordable houses and the level of wages in the local economy. Questions will be selected from those submitted.
