LOWTHER Castle hosts the fourth Born Survivor event, a military inspired obstacle course designed by elite armed forces personnel, on Saturday.

The brainchild of an ex-Royal Marines Commando and Falklands veteran, the event will feature 38, purpose-built, obstacles across a 10km course within the Lowther Estate.

Matt Leigh, from Born Survivor, said: “We’re looking forward to another incredible day at Lowther Castle on Saturday. We’ve got 2,500 people signed up to take part and they’re coming from across the country to take on the mighty Born Survivor course. However, Born Survivor isn’t not your average 10km trail or mud run, it’s designed to be very tough with teamwork being an essential ingredient for success; so much so, we’ve even attracted some teams of more than 200 people. Those who finish will certainly deserve to wear their Born Survivor t-shirts, headbands, tattoos and wrist-bands with pride.”

The 10km obstacle course will start and finish in the Born Survivor event village, where festival inspired facilities will be available for both participants and spectators, including: The Born Survivor kit shop, Pete Bland Sports, Grenade nutrition, the Ultim8 children’s obstacle course, sports massage from Cumbria University, live music, a licensed beer tent and a range of catering facilities. On the course, our marshals are kindly being supported by students from Newton Rigg College and soldiers from the 2nd Battalion, Duke of Lancaster's Regiment.

Born Survivor is sponsored by Grenade, and their official charities are Unique Kidz, Cystic Fibrosis Trust and The Soldiers Charity.
