SIXTY-six nominations have been accepted for the 17 district council seats to be contested in South Lakeland on May 7.
Low Furness, Mid-Furness and Burneside wards are each being contested by five candidates while Cartmel and Grange West, Grange South, Holker, Whinfell and Windermere, Applethwaite and Troutbeck wards will all have a three-way fight.
The remainder of the wards in the local election - Ambleside and Grasmere, Arnside and Beetham, Broughton, Burton and Holme, Grange North, Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale, Windermere Bowness North, Winderemere Bowness South and Windermere Town - are all four-way contests.
In Eden, 52 nominations were received by the 4pm deadline on Thursday, but only 11 of the district's 30 wards will be contested.
