SEDBERGH Spring Show returned with a flourish on Saturday after a gap of two years.

Sedbergh folk showed their appreciation by making 718 entries in 99 classes in the show, held in the town's People Hall.

There was a wide range of categories including crafts, hand made toys, flowers and plants, home produce, art, photography and a special children's section.

"The show was opened by Maureen Lamb who has been a valiant worker for the show over many years," said Wendy Fraser-Urquhart, the show's secretary.

"As many others before her have said she observed that the show reflects the true community spirit of Sedbergh.

"The Town Band entertained us in the afternoon. It was good to see and hear the competence of many young players. The lively tunes made us want to dance. The raffle prizes, many supplied by local traders, were numerous and varied."

The 2014 show was cancelled because of a dwindling number of volunteers and the year before it was stopped by a sudden snow storm.
