THIS is the sixth week of our report on five South Lakeland folk who started their journey to the election ballot box as ‘undecided’ - but most say they are now settled on which way they will vote.

HOTEL spa manager Peter Chadwick, 24, continues to be impressed with Labour and Ed Miliband’s performance in the election campaign.
“I think he has a strong presence,” said Peter. “When David Cameron speaks he always has lots of notes and it seems like his head’s in his words, whereas Miliband speaks from his heart - I think he’s done himself proud.”

KIRKBY Lonsdale cafe owner John Strange was ‘very impressed’ by Lib Dem candidate Tim Farron at the Gazette’s pre-election debate.
“He answered all the questions very succinctly and had a great knowledge and passion for the area,” he said, “I just wish he worked for a different party.”
He felt voting Conservative was the only way to secure the economy. economy saying, “We need to look at the bigger picture, not just focus on romantic notions about the NHS.”

RETIRED teacher Will Garnett has returned from a trip to Holland even more disillusioned with party politics in Britain.
“Here, we compete with each other and it is all about personalities; over there it is about what is going to be in the best interests of the country. That is why I am opting for the Greens, because they are talking about a long-term strategy.”

THE potential dangers of a protest vote worry retired BBC manager Gilian Cleeve.
“During the 2014 European elections for MEPs I was horrified when Chris Davies lost his seat to Ukip - I think sustainable fishing really lost its champion at that point. For me the moral of that story is to beware the dangers of a protest vote, which I think Ukip were.”

AFTER watching and reading about the parties’ manifestos, Ambleside student Chris Farran, 23, is ‘almost definitely’ planning to vote Ukip.
“I like what they are going to do with the NHS and overseas aid,” he said.
“I know UKIP aren’t going to get in but if they can at least form a coalition we’ll be going in the right direction.”
