FITNESS fans can now enjoy a dash of culture with their workout thanks to a Kendal Leisure Centre scheme to bring opportunities for local artists to the centre.

The first artist to have a display at the Burton Road site is local painter Colin Margison, who has now sold two of the paintings displayed at the leisure centre.

Active Communities Manager Caroline Smith has been working with Cllr Chris Hogg, Culture, Arts and Events Portfolio Holder at South Lakeland District Council, to make the project a reality.

“We are keen to develop art across the centre and willing to look at different ways we can work with local artists,” she said.

Colin also has an upcoming exhibition at White Stuff, on Finkle Street, from May 15-17, raising funds for the Bendrigg Trust.
