BAY Search and Rescue are bidding to win funding to replace an ageing 4x4 vehicle.
The Flookburgh-based team hopes to receive up to £25,000 from The Aviva Community Fund but needs your help.
The team's submission says: "We need to replace our ageing 4x4 response vehicle which can be used to respond nationwide to flood events like Cockermouth in 2009.
"Locally it is used to respond during serve weather like snow to support Police, Fire, Ambulance and the Coastguard.
"Our current vehicle is 11 years old with over 130,000 miles on the clock. During 2014 we were called out 49 times to incidents from Quicksand on Morecambe bay to standby for flooding in the South East of England.
"This vehicle provides a lifeline to transport team members to incidents, to recover vehicles in extreme weather, to help transport our local first responders, to support the Ambulance service and many more things.
"A new 4x4 would have at least a 10-15 year life span so the grant would hopefully mean supporting in upwards of 500 rescues over the next 10 years."
