SOUTH Lakeland District Council leader Peter Thornton has greeted a £2m underspend, saying it was "pleasing to see this council living within its means".
The underspend was on the council's £30m budget for 2014/15, Cabinet members heard.
Councillors agreed to carry forward £1m into this year's budget.
Cllr Thornton said: "It gives me real confidence that we can project a balanced budget into the future."
